What Makes a High-Quality Vinyl Liner Pool?
If you've started getting estimates for a vinyl liner pool, you've probably noticed that prices can vary a lot. It can be tempting to compare quotes based on the bottom line, but there's usually a reason one pool costs more than another.
The truth is, a quality pool isn't just about how it looks the day it goes in. It's about how it's built, the materials used, and whether it's still performing well 10, 15, or 20 years from now.
At Super Pools, we believe that doing things the right way the first time is always worth it. Here are a few of the things we do differently that help build a pool made to last.
It All Starts with the Foundation
A lot of what makes a great pool is hidden underground.
Before the walls go up or the liner is installed, the site has to be excavated and prepared correctly. If this step is rushed or shortcuts are taken, it can lead to settling, shifting, or other issues down the road.
You may never see the work beneath your pool, but it's one of the biggest reasons a pool performs well for decades instead of becoming a headache after a few years.
What is your pool bottom made of?
One detail many homeowners don't know to ask about is the material used for the pool bottom.
Many builders still use vermiculite, which has been a common choice for years. At Super Pools, we use a Portland cement pool bottom instead.
Why? Simply put, it's stronger.
A Portland cement bottom creates a harder, more durable surface that holds up better over time. It also helps create a smoother finish beneath the liner, which is something you'll appreciate every time you get in the pool.
It's one of those upgrades that isn't flashy, but it makes a real difference in the long run.
How thick should your liner be?
Not all pool liners are the same.
We install 25–27 mil vinyl liners, which are thicker and more durable than many standard liners. That extra thickness helps resist everyday wear and tear while giving your pool a quality finish you'll enjoy for years.
With proper water chemistry and routine maintenance, a vinyl liner can often last around 20 years before it's time for a replacement.
That's one of the reasons vinyl liner pools continue to be such a great value for homeowners.
What is your backfill material?
After the pool is installed, the area around it needs to be backfilled before the concrete deck is poured.
Some builders use sand because it's less expensive. At Super Pools, we use crushed rock.
Crushed rock compacts better, drains water more effectively, and helps provide a more stable base beneath your concrete deck. That means less chance of settling over time and a stronger foundation for everything surrounding your pool.
Again, it's one of those things you won't see when the project is finished, but you'll be glad it's there years later.
What brand is your equipment?
The pool itself is only part of the equation. The equipment running it matters just as much.
That's why we use Pentair equipment whenever possible.
Pentair has built a reputation for dependable pumps, filters, heaters, automation systems, and other pool equipment. Reliable equipment means cleaner water, better energy efficiency, and fewer maintenance headaches.
When you're investing in a new pool, you want equipment that's built to last and not the cheapest option available.
Experience Matters
Even the best materials won't make up for poor installation.
Installing a vinyl liner pool takes experience, attention to detail, and pride in the work. Every measurement, every plumbing connection, and every finishing touch matters.
Our team has been trained to build pools that last, and we've learned that it's often the little details that make the biggest difference.
A Pool You'll Enjoy for Years
A swimming pool is a big investment, and it should be something your family enjoys for a long time.
That's why we focus on quality materials, proven construction methods, and equipment we trust. We don't believe in cutting corners just to lower the price. We'd rather build a pool that we're proud to put our name on.
When you're comparing pool builders, don't be afraid to ask questions. Ask what material they use for the pool bottom. Ask what's used for deck backfill. Ask about liner thickness and equipment brands. Those answers will tell you a lot about the quality of the finished product.
At Super Pools, we're always happy to explain how we build our pools and why we build them that way. We believe an informed homeowner makes the best decisions, and we'd love the opportunity to help you create a backyard you'll enjoy for many summers to come.
